Flights across much of the UK have been grounded for a second day as volcanic ash from Iceland drifts across Europe, posing a potential threat to aircraft.
Not sure if people have heard this news already, but for the past few days all UK Airspace has been closed (So that means no flights coming in, out, or anything. This will affect consumers, businesses and government operations) - this is all due to volcanic ash being carried from Iceland - which is to the north east of the UK.
Of course this ash cloud will affect parts of Europe and possibly Africa also, depending how the winds go.
The reason for the closure is because the ash may damage aircraft engines. They could be sucked into the turbines and cause the engines to fail - which is very bad! It is a major inconvenience for everyone in the UK and people abroad that need to come to the UK but safety is prime these days.
At the moment UK airspace is closed until Saturday, at least.
